Twin Cities German Immersion School is a tuition free public charter school located in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Our full immersion program utilizes German as the language of instruction beginning in kindergarten. We opened in 2005 with two grades and will be expanding each year until we have reached a K-8 configuration.
Goals of Twin Cities German Immersion School Students who complete our program through 8th grade will be able to use their German language skills to do school work, speak with friends and teachers, and communicate with native speakers comfortably and effectively. In addition, they will be well equipped to enter and succeed in challenging secondary school opportunities, including International Baccalaureate programs, Advanced Placement classes, College in the Schools programs and the Post-Secondary Educational Option.
Classroom Hours The school day is from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. We offer a half day kindergarten. The morning session of kindergarten starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 11:30 a.m. The afternoon kindergarten session starts at 12:30 p.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. Extended day options are provided by Kinderstube, a German immersion preschool run by the Germanic American Institute.
MISSION STATEMENT Twin Cities German Immersion School is a charter elementary school that values high academic achievement and engages each individual child through an enriched second language curriculum taught in German. With the support of parents, our school creates a community which nurtures a child’s natural curiosity and fosters international awareness.
